Jobless man nabbed for syabu possession

BAU: An unemployed man was arrested by the police on Tuesday (Jan 26) night for possessing 0.36g of syabu.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 22-year-old suspect, who was behaving suspiciously, was apprehended behind a restaurant here at 10.15pm.

“A small transparent plastic packet containing clear crystallised material suspected to be syabu was found on him. The drug has an estimated street value of RM60.

“The suspect also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine abuse,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 27).

DSP Poge added that the suspect did not have a criminal record.

“He is currently detained under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“If convictede, he is looking at a fine of not more than RM100,000 or a prison term of not more than five years, or both.”
