SERIAN: Police arrested an unemployed man for possessing crystalline lumps, believed to be syabu at Kampung Krusen, Tebekang last Monday (Apr 5).

District police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said that a Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) team conducted a raid at the village and detained the suspicious man in his car for inspection.

In the vehicle, the team found nine plastic packets and a straw tube containing crystalline lumps, believed to be syabu, in a coin compartment.

“The drugs weighing around 9.12g, were confiscated and brought to the police station along with the suspect for further actions.

“Investigations found that the drugs have a market value of RM1,000 and are believed to be distributed to addicts in Serian and nearby villages,” said Aswandy.

The 32-year-old suspect, who has been remanded, was found positive for drugs and will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine up to RM5,000 or a jail term of up to two years.
