John-Isai retain PTBS Super-Veteran title

KUCHING: Persatuan Tenis Bumiputra Sarawak (PTBS) held its 4th Super-Veteran Doubles Competition at Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hj Bujang Mohd Nor Tennis Complex at Jalan Demak, here, from May 5 to 7.

The PTBS Super-Veteran Doubles is open to members and non-members aged 60 and above.

A total of 18 participated in this year’s tournament.

Isai Raja partnered John Anjee to retain the title and emerge as champions again in 2017 by beating Datu Abdillah Adam-Rajikin 6-3, 5-7 & 10-4 in the final.

The finalists took home RM300 and RM200 respectively while the semi-finalists partnership, Hj Bujang Sulong-Pauzi Bojeng and Rawi Norshidi- Hj Ahmad Hamid each received RM140.

PTBS deputy president, Tuan Hj Sapiee Hanapi gave away the prizes in a simple ceremony on Sunday.

The next competition held at PTBS will be the PTBS Inter-Community Tournament from May 19 to 21.

This is PTBS’s signature tournament where teams from different ethnic races in Sarawak participate in the tournament in the spirit of racial integrations and 1Sarawak.

The teams participating are the Malays, Chinese, Bidayuh, Iban, Chinese, Orang Ulu/Eurasian, Malaya/Sabah and Indonesian from Kalimantan.
