KUCHING: A bar called Gates of Heaven (GoH) will be organising a Borneo Songkran event at its premises here on April 13.
The event is inspired by the Thailand biggest celebration, Songkran festival which marks the Thai new year and is held on April 13.
According to the event project director Aloysius Sibek, the event is held for the first time and one of its kind in Sarawak.
“Many activities will be held starting from 3pm till late at night,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today.
He added that Rogue Squadron bikers group would also be joining the event.
“A Disc Jockey (DJ) from Thailand will be on duty that day and there will also be performances by musical bands staring from 4pm,” he added.
There will be food and beverages and food vendors are welcome to sell items on that day.
“As GoH is also organising the Goddess of Gates 2019 beauty pageant where the final will be held on April 27, we will be announcing the Miss Gates Songkran, a subsidiary title of the competition on that day, too,” he said.
He said at the event, the public will have the chance to meet all the eight finalists of the beauty contest too.
Aloysius welcomes everybody to join in the celebration of Sarawak’s very own kind of Songkran.
The bar GoH, with its eye-catching Balinese themed layout is located at Jalan Datuk Abdul Rahman (not far from Crown Towers).
