KUCHING: Media practitioners in the state will receive a RM1,500 one-off payment under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 3.0.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the State Cabinet had agreed to give the incentive as those from the media were also frontline staff carrying out their duty during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“You (reporters) are also the frontliners, and you are facing the risks when you go out to report,” he said when announcing the third BKSS in a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday.

He said there were about 500 media practitioners and the state would get in touch with the journalist’s association to gather the details of the reporters for the incentives to be distributed.
