KUCHING: The Sarawak government remains committed to its aim of expanding internet services to all corners of Sarawak, especially in the rural areas.

“Sarawak government agencies, namely Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will double their efforts towards achieving high speed internet as soon as possible,” said Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

In a Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 5), he said he had mentioned this in his speech earlier at the Jasamu Dikenang appreciation ceremony organised by SK Tungkah Melayu led by its headmaster Asri Om in collaboration with the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) led by Jaffari Kambari.

“The ceremony was to appreciate two teachers who will be shifting their location of teaching. Thank you Cikgu Udin Sebi and Cikgu Siti Badariah Abdullah, who are moving to SK Tuba,” he said.

He said as in previous years, he had approved a grant of RM10,000 for SK Tungkah Melayu PTA’s annual programmes.

“Each primary school PTA in the Sebuyau area is approved the same allocation, that is, RM10,000 per PTA,” said Julaihi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman.
