Julin Dabai Cluster latest to emerge; 16 new localities under EMCO

KUCHING: A new Covid-19 cluster – Julin Dabai Cluster has been declared in Sarawak.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the community cluster involved residents of a longhouse under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Sungau Dabai, Marudi.

Of the 84 people screened, 70, including the index case tested positive and 14 were negative, while 63 cases from this cluster were among the new cases reported on Saturday.

“All Covid-19 positive cases were admitted to Miri Hospital Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Marudi district,” it said.

SDMC also announced the end of five clusters. Three clusters in Kuching that have ended are, Kampung Paya Mebi Cluster, Lorong Teruntum Cluster and Braang Payang Cluster.

While the Se-Menyan Cluster in Sibu and Jalan Hulu Engkamop in Pakan have also ended after no new cases involving these clusters were reported in the past 28 days.

“Seven out of the 127 active clusters in the state reported a total of 139 new cases while the other 120 clusters did not record any additional cases,” SDMC said.

Meanwhile, the committee said that a total of 16 new localities have been put under EMCO.

These included eight localities in Sri Aman namely Rumah (Rh.) Nadwi, Rh. Radin, Rh. Entau, Rh. Laka, Rh. Milu, Rh. Steele, Rh. Merinding and Rh. Stephen that will undergo EMCO from Sept 24 to Oct 3.

Rh. Jantan in Meradong, Rh. Malang in Julau and Rh. Barang in Pakan will undergo EMCO starting from Sept 25 to Oct 4.

Meanwhile, Rh. Rokayah and Rh. Unting in Betong along with Rh. Thomas Malis, Rh. Nyalang and Rh. Ganing in Saratok will undergo EMCO from Sept 26 to Oct 6.

SDMC added that one locality in Betong, that is Rh. Basil Malaka will undergo extended EMCO from Sept 26 to Oct 6.

The committee also announced the end of EMCO in a total of nine localities on Saturday (Sept 25) while five will be lifted on Sunday (Sept 26).
