SARIKEI: The first carriageway of the new 35m single span is expected to be opened to public by June.

Lebuhraya Borneo Utara (LBU) project manager for Works Package 06 Suhaili Md Salleh said work is now focused on deck slabbing before it moves on to do the parapet wall.

“Once the first carriageway is opened to traffic, we can move on to demolish the old bridge next to it to construct a new one.

“We schedule the overall bridge completion to be in April next year,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

The deck slabbing works being carried out at Sungai Sebetan Bridge in Sarikei.

According to him, another new bridge, the 35m single span Sungai Seblak Bridge, which is adjacent to the access road to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lichok, would see its first carriageway ready by end of this year.

“We had just launched the beams for this new bridge recently, and soon we will cast the deck slab before we do the parapet wall.
