KUCHING: A local man was fined RM1,500 in default of two months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here, for being involved in the abuse of methamphetamine and amphetamine drugs 12 years ago.
The accused, Muhd Aminur Syafiq Julaihi, 29, from Kampung Bintangor pleaded guilty to a charge read before Magistrate Siti Farah Ibrahim.
Aminur committed the offence at the Kuching Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) office around 3.45pm on July 4, 2012.
The accused was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234) and punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.
The offence carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or jail term of up to two years and the offender is also required to undergo supervision by an officer for a period up to three years.
Siti Farah ordered the accused to be placed under supervision for two years after serving his time.
