SARATOK: This Ramadan is definitely the sweetest for an elderly man who has been living in a hut near the Saratok pier all this time.

Razali Uki or also known as Nek Su Jalil in the community is moving into a new home, thanks to the efforts of Kalaka PBB led by Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz.

According to the Kalaka assemblyman, Nek Su Jalil had been living in the hut because he refused to stay at a relative’s house.

“He’s in the same village with me in Kampung Hulu Saratok, we played together when we were little in the 1950s.

“It is understood that he refused to stay at his relative’s house in the village, instead taking shelter on the banks of Sungai Krian.

“Kalaka PBB took the initiative to build a small home for him equipped with various facilities. It is a noble effort in conjunction with the month of Ramadan this year,” Abdul Wahab said today.

He explained that RM6,000 from his own money was used to purchase the materials to build Nek Su Jalil’s new home.

“Work was carried out by PBB members of Kampung Saratok. The house comes with a kitchen, toilet and a more comfortable bed.”

Meanwhile, the interior of the house and other facilities were donated jointly by branch deputy chief Cr Mohamad Duri and PBB Youth exco member Kasdi Pandi, each contributing RM2,000.

The handover was performed by Mohamad Duri, and Nek Su Jalil was also given some cash to buy daily necessities.
