SARATOK: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri has expressed concern that there are homes in his constituency still waiting to be connected to the electricity grid despite their internal wiring being done 10 years ago.

“I personally reviewed and discussed with the complainants because I understood they have been waiting too long.

“Imagine more than 10 years of internal wiring, but not connected to the main power source. Meaning, no electricity supply.

“On our side now, we are negotiating the best method to solve the problem.

“However, I would like to remind you that every application or complaint about the problem of connecting electricity to houses, must be reported to the relevant agency or at least to the Assemblyman’s Service Centre so that we can take follow-up action,” he said.

He said this after visiting three homes in Batu Satu near here that are still not connected to the power grid, today.

He expressed his commitment to obtain electricity supply for the residences involved through the rural electricity supply project.

He added that the same commitment was given to resolve similar issues in other areas.

“This is because we understand the need for those basic things. Now is different, then was different.

“Today, daily affairs are completely dependent on electricity. If it is not resolved, it will be more harmful, especially for children who want to study, for business activities and so on.

“Therefore, I will make every effort to ensure all the residences in Kalaka will have electricity supply.

“For new houses, applications can be submitted immediately so that no one is left out,” he said.
