KUCHING: Pantai Damai constituency is awaiting a decision from the state government to relocate the fire victims of Kampung Bintawa Ulu at the Darul Hana Development Project phase one.

According to Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, the application has been submitted to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for his approval.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is Pantai Damai assemblyman, said the proposal was voiced by Kampung Bintawa Ulu village development and security committee (JKKK).

The RM200-million Darul Hana Development Project phase one, which is expected to be completed soon, is fully funded by the Sarawak government for Seberang Hilir villagers.

Based on previous reports, a total of 564 families in Kampung Panglima Seman, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Pulo Ulu will be relocated to their new homes once the first phase is completed.

At the same time, the state government is also targeting 2,640 families or around 4,000 residents in 13 villages in Seberang Hilir to be relocated to the housing project in the next 10 to 13 years under the second, third and fourth phases of the project.
