BAU: The flood situation in Kampung Segong has shown significant improvement, leading to the closure of its temporary evacuation centre and the return of evacuees to their homes.

A report from the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) stated that two families who were staying at the evacuation centre have been permitted to return home.

“Out of the two families, there were nine individuals – five adults, three children and an infant.

“The evacuation centre, which opened on Friday (Feb 16) at 11.30am, was closed this morning at 8.30am,” the statement said today (Feb 17).

It added that the floodwaters in Kampung Sengong have receded, and vehicles can now pass through.

However, the statement also noted that heavy rainfall occurred from 4am to 9.30am this morning in some areas around here, causing water levels to rise.
