Kampung Sungai Maong villagers get food assistance

KUCHING: Villagers in Kampung Sungai Maong who are undergoing enhanced movement control order (EMCO) received food assistance on Thursday (Feb 25).

The village was placed under EMCO since Feb 17 following the emergence of the Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster.

The food assistance consisted of 1,300 roti canai and they were contributed by Pemanca John Tiong.

A simple ceremony was conducted at the village’s Masjid Darul Istiqlaal and the event was coordinated by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy secretary-general Sih Hua Tong.

Tiong presented the food assistance to a representative from Kuching District Office, Rosalind Chin and representative of Kuching Division Welfare Office, Norhayati Abdul Rahman.

The ceremony was witnessed by Abdul Samad Gany, a political secretary to the Chief Minister; SUPP deputy secretary-general Datuk Tan Joo Phoi, Penghulu Giam Ann Kee, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok deputy secretary Azmi Hipni, Cr Jong Yean Ping, Kapitan Sue Kho, Ketua Ranting Sungai Maong, Abdul Latib Salleh and community leader (KK), Masni Morni.

Meanwhile, a representative from a non-government organisation (NGO) Martin Tian Pian Shing also handed over food assistance to the villagers.
