Kapit hosts three-day Agrofest

KAPIT: Locals flocked to the compound of the State Office Complex at Jalan Bleteh here where the Kapit Agrofest 2019 is being held.

The three-day programme involves 60 promotional booths where various agricultural and cottage products produced in Kapit and Song districts are being displayed.

It’s a sale-cum-exhibition event to show what modern commercial agriculture is all about and it can offer farmers.

Other activities include a talk on kelulut rearing and planting of Musang King durian, organic fertiliser making demonstration, cooking demonstration, stage shows by popular Iban recording artiste, children colouring contest, lucky draw and the Agrofest Beauty contest.

Among those visiting the fest yesterday were Kapit District Counci chairman Lating Minggang, Land and Survey Department superintendent Sagu Unting, and Kapit Agriculture Department assistant director Badin Unor.

Kapit Agrofest 2019 official opening ceremony is slated for later today. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to officiate at the event.
