Kapit records first PUI case

KUCHING: The upriver town of Kapit recorded its first Covid-19 Person Under Investigation (PUI) case as Sarawak registered a total of five new cases yesterday.

According to a statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kapit’s first case was recorded at Kapit Hospital, while the remaining four cases are in Bintulu Hospital (three) and Sarawak General Hospital (one).

“With these new cases, the state has recorded a cumulative 107 PUI cases from Jan 10 until yesterday.

“However, 99 tested negative and eight are currently awaiting lab test results,” the statement said.

It was also reported that a Chinese national at Bintulu Hospital is among the eight patients awaiting results.

As at 11am on Feb 20, the Health Department has screened 11,534 arrivals at various airports, land and sea entry points.

The figure brings to 152,473 the total arrivals to Sarawak, screened since Feb 1 this year.
