KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) vice-president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah predicts that the upcoming 12th Sarawak state election would be daunting for Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

“Personally, I do not see them to be able to make much inroad, especially Baru Bian, who has since joined the party,” he told reporters during a special media conference at his office in Baitul Makmur, Petra Jaya today.

Abdul Karim said the decision by the former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chief in joining PSB contradicted what Baru had been advocating for so long.

“It is an open secret on who are behind PSB. A lot of them are big tycoons and these are the companies that have been benefiting from our forest areas.

“These are the people who are plundering the jungle with timber concessions. And those are native customary right (NCR) land areas — which is a significant issue that Baru has always been advocating for.

“He has been a fighter to this issue, but now he appears to be contradicting himself. So, where does the principles go?” he asked.
