KUCHING: Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is confident that the Kuching City FC (KCFC) team will continue to excel in facing the 2022 Premier League campaign.

This is taking into account the preparations made by the squad at this time, apart from the excellent record during the five years of The City Boys’ involvement in the Malaysian League scene.

“We believe the KCFC squad is able to maintain their best momentum this season.

“With an excellent record in the last five years, it can be a benchmark for Irfan Bakti Abu Salim’s line-up to achieve the mission to be in the best group,” said Abdul Karim.

He said this while speaking at the KCFC 2022 new jerseys’ launching ceremony at a leading hotel in the city Friday night.

Last season The City Boys finished fifth in the Premier League.

Therefore, he added, it is not impossible for the second club from Sarawak to be able to place themselves in the top league.

Meanwhile, he also praised the management of the KCFC team led by Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

He said, efficient and good management covering various angles was also one of the contributing elements to the excellence of the KCFC team’s performance.

Also present at the event were the xcting chief executive officer (CEO) of Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Semawi Mohammad, deputy president of the Sarawak Football Association (FAS), Mohd. Saif Jubaidi, FAS secretary-general Pazza Dan, coaches as well as players and sponsors’ representatives.
