KUCHING: The sacred date of July 22 is for the people to continue commemorating the services of Sarawak’s fighters, said Azizul Annuar Adenan.

The Tanjong Datu assemblyman said this when officiating at the “Walk a Mile” programme in conjunction with Lundu Heart Day 2022 at the Lundu Town Square yesterday.

“Continue to remember the services of fighters such as the late Rosli Dhobi, Bujang Suntong, Awang Rambli and others in resisting British colonialism after the Second World War,’ Azizul reminded.

In conjunction with the celebration of Sarawak Day, Azizul also quoted  former Chief Minister of Sarawak, the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, that Sarawak is a region that came together with Malaya, Sabah and Singapore to form Malaysia in 1963.

Prior to the event, Azizul took part in the Senam Kenyalang activity.

This programme, attended by about 300 participants, is one of the activities of Lundu Heart Day 2022.

Health check-ups, exhibits, blood donation programmes, sports, lucky draws, and many more activities were also held.
