LIMBANG: Kedayans, especially the younger generation, have been urged to learn the customs and culture of their own community.

In making this call, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said with rapid changes now taking place, the culture and customs of communities are in danger of being slowly forgotten.

“Hence, the government encourages every community in the state to revive its own uniqueness and ethnic diversity,” he said at the Makan Tahun Perdana 2022 held at Kampung Sayung, here recently.

His speech was delivered by Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus.

Awang Tengah also congratulated the Limbang Business Association for getting the programme into the state tourism calendar.

“This is a success that we can be proud of despite this being only the sixth edition of the event,” he said.

In addition, he also congratulated the Limbang Kedayan Association for getting a plot of land and allocation approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
