KUCHING: A new Covid-19 cluster — the Keranji Tabuan Cluster — has been identified by the state Health Department.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the index case of this cluster was Case 1,158 who had been detected through symptomatic individual screening on Jan 5.

“A total of 54 individuals have been screened in relation to this cluster. Of these, six were positive, six negative and 42 others are still awaiting test results,” he told a press conference here today.

With the addition of the new cluster, Sarawak now has a total of four active clusters with the other three being Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri, Stutong Cluster in Kuching, and Mador Cluster in Meradong.

Uggah also said that following the positive cases reported at two longhouses — Rumah Sg Putong, Ulu Undop and Rumah Bui Panjai, Lubok Antu, the Sri Aman Divisional Disaster Management Committee has conducted active case detection (ACD) by deploying enforcement agencies to control the movements of those entering and exiting the longhouses.
