KUCHNG: The Type 6 Health Clinic project in Kampung Semop is expected to be re-tendered in August.

Deputy Health Minister II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the Ministry of Health (MoH) was aware of the need for health services, especially in the south of Pulau Bruit, Kampung Semop.

He said the government had approved the project in the Rolling Plan 4 of the 10th Malaysia Plan, and it had been tendered for the first time in Feb 2017.

“However, the appointment of contractor was not made because the price offered by the tenderer was too high. And the decision to re-tender was issued in July 2018,” he said, in reply to a question from Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab in Parliament, Putrajaya.

He said the project was re-tendered in October last year, but the appointment of contractor was not made because there was no agreement from the tenderer to maintain the offer price during the tender validity period.

“In January this year, the Federal Procurement Board Sarawak decided to re-tender the project and this will be the third time,” he said.

He added that in the meantime, the health services were delivered to the south of Pulau Bruit through the Village Health Team (VHT) from Dato Health Clinic, which conducts five visits per month.

“The average number of patients to the VHT is around 200.”
