King, Queen express condolences to Salahuddin’s family

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong have expressed their condolences to the family of Salahuddin

KUCHING: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their condolences to the family of former Head of State Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, who passed away on Friday (Jan 28).

A post on Istana Negara’s official Facebook page on Saturday (Jan 29) said that both the King and Queen were saddened by the passing of the late Salahuddin and expressed hope that the family of the departed would be patient and resilient in facing this sad time.

“Their Majesties pray that his soul is showered with blessings by Allah SWT and placed with the righteous.

“Their Majesties greatly appreciate and praise his devotion, service, and sacrifice to Sarawak and the country,” read the Facebook post.

The late Salahuddin, 100, passed away of natural causes at Normah Medical Centre at around 11.45pm on Friday.

He served as the third and sixth Head of State respectively from 1977 to 1981 and then from 2001 to 2014, being the first person to hold the post twice.
