SIBU: Plans are underway to turn Kolej Laila Taib (KLT) into a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centre.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said discussions were held during his visit to KLT last Wednesday.

“This afternoon, I visited KLT to discuss the next direction of KLT.

“Many do not know that KLT is an institution owned by the Sarawak government, and the courses offered are at the diploma level for SPM graduates.

“The discussion also revolved around making KLT a TVET centre,” he said on his Facebook entries on Wednesday night.

KLT was acquired under the full ownership of the state government in 2010.

The college was established in honour of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s late wife, Datuk Patinggi Dr Laila Taib, whose selfless dedication and philanthropic commitment had helped generations of Sarawakians during her lifetime.
