KOTA SAMARAHAN: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has intensified efforts to ensure that the green zone status is maintained.

Chairman Datuk Peter Minos said MPKS had organised the Kongsi Rezeki Komuniti Niaga yang Lestari (Sustainable Business Community) post Covid-19 programme on Monday (Aug 17).

He said the programme was organised to remind the residents here to comply with the instructions  from the government, particularly regarding standard operating procedure (SOP) throughout the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

“We are also grateful because this morning (Aug 17), community representatives and leaders in this area as well as traders at Bandar Riyal Market and Farley Kota Samarahan attended this programme.”

He was speaking to the press after the launch of the programme at Farley Food Court here.

He stressed that all parties needed to work together to effectively eliminate Covid-19 altogether from Kota Samarahan.

“We also hope that after Aug 31, there will be no more Covid-19 in Sarawak, we want the status of the Green zone.

“It started with Red, then Yellow, and now back to Green. We are thankful because this reminds the people not to be complacent.

“This morning’s programme proves that the government is taking proactive steps in holding various programmes such as community policing and more,” he said.

Earlier, he called on the community and traders in Kota Samarahan to continue to follow SOPs to break the Covid-19 chain.

He also expressed his appreciation towards the support from Samarahan Resident Brahim Lumpu and other parties.

“This includes the police here who have managed to arrest SOP flouters during the RMCO.”
