KOTA SAMARAHAN: Upon the completion of the proposed hawker centre and waterfront project, it will transform Kota Samarahan into a unique and one of the best cultural tourism sites in the state.

Due to the construction of the road from Batang Sadong to Batang Samarahan, more than 80 roadside traders from Kampung Tambirat had to be moved and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) proposed the new hawker centre for them.

Its chairman, Datuk Peter Minos, said that the proposed hawker centre will also have a dry goods centre and food stalls with ample parking space.

“The stalls are parallel to the main road and are nearby, which makes it easy and convenient for customers.

“As for the waterfront project behind the stalls, it will be used for the Samarahan Regatta, youth activities and cultural events,” he said in a statement.

Minos also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the state government for the full funding of the projects and to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah for the initiative.
