KUCHING: Disinfection works are becoming a sight as health authorities attempt to halt the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) conducted such an operation at Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday.
Its assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hii said the operation, which started at 10am, involved firefighters, Kuching Airport Fire and Rescue (AFRS), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and South Kuching City Council (MBKS) personnel.
“The operation focused on frequently visited areas. We will disinfect places that are easily accessible (touched) by the public,” he told reporters.
Earlier, the operation began with a briefing from Tabuan fire station Chief Faizal Saari.
Those involved in the operation also had to undergo strict screening before and after the operation.
Meanwhile, a similar operation was conducted at Semarak Market, Maong Central Hawker Centre, Masjid Darul Hijrah, Simunjan, Betong Market, Betong Wet Market and Spaoh Market.
Tiong noted that two houses belonging to Covid-19 positive patients in Samarahan were disinfected as well.
