KUCHING: Kuching MP Dr Kevin Yii has decided to do things a bit different this coming Parliament sitting from March 11 to April 11.

Instead of submitting his questions to the ministers on issues in Sarawak, Dr Yii is opening a channel through the social media to the public to allow them to ask what they want to know or whatever problems have been plaguing them.

When contacted by New Sarawak Tribune, Dr Yii said he is allowed to ask 10 written questions and five oral questions.

He said as a people’s representative, it would be good to get feedback from the people on issues and problems in Sarawak.

He said during the last parliamentary session, he concentrated on healthcare, education, Sarawak affairs, youths and problems in his constituency.

“I believe that the people may want to know something different so I allow them to tell me what is the issue affecting their daily lives.

Dr Yii said until today there have been a lot of comments on his FB and some people have personally contacted him with their queries.

Urging the people to respond positively, he said he would not entertain those who only want to attack him.

“I am genuine about wanting to bring the people’s issues to Parliament. We have to bring a voice from Bandar Kuching to Parliament,” he added.

He said he will have to vet all proposed questions before sending them to Parliament before Feb 22.
