Kuching returns to yellow

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case on Sunday, as Kuching changed from a red zone to yellow.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) noted that the cumulative total of positive cases in the state stands at 678.

“Kuching district has turned from a red zone to a yellow zone with the number of local cases reported in the last 14 days standing at 39.

“Within the last 14 days, Samarahan had 11 local cases, Serian three, and Lundu and Bau had one each — all remain as yellow zones which means there are now five districts categorised as yellow zones.

“The number of green zone districts stands at 35,” SDMC said in a statement.

Apart from that, there were three new cases recovered and were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 594, or 87.61 percent.

Sixty-five individuals are still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards and the total number of deaths remains at 19, or 2.8 percent.

SDMC noted that 10 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases had been reported, and eight were still awaiting laboratory results.

To date, 121 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) cases were checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 13 hotels to 756, while 19,372 PUS had completed their quarantine period.
