Kuching still most Covid-19 affected district

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 731 new Covid-19 cases in Epidemiological (Epid) Week 32, an increase from Epid Week 31’s 602 cases.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly statement issued on Monday (Aug 15), Kuching topped the list as the state’s most affected district during both weeks, with 220 and 242 cases respectively.

Among the districts that recorded triple-digit cases in Epid Week 32 are Miri (141) and Sibu (119) while Bintulu (71); Samarahan (23); Sarikei (26); Mukah (10) and Bau (15) all recorded double-digit cases.

Meanwhile, Tanjung Manis, Matu, Kabong, Lundu, Belaga and Sebauh recorded zero cases in Epid Week 32.

The cumulative cases now stand at 310,974 for Epid Week 32.

Sibu and Miri recorded one death each in Week 32 while the week prior, one death was recorded, this time in Sarikei.
