Kuching tops in new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak saw a slight drop in the Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Sept 18) with 2,929 cases compared to 3,408 cases the day before (Sept 17).

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today (Sept 18), said that out of the total cases, 1,959 cases or 66.88 percent were classified as Category 1 (no symptoms), while 967 cases or 33.01 as Category 2 (mild symptoms), and three cases or 0.10 percent as Category 4 (lung infection and need oxygen).

The Kuching district reported the most cases at 747, followed by Sibu (327); Bintulu (311); Serian (286); Miri (173); Saratok (116); Sri Aman (112); and Samarahan (108).

District that reported below 100 cases were Mukah with 93 cases; Limbang (67); Betong (57); Subis (57); Sarikei (53); Kapit (36); Telang Usan (35); Belaga (34); Bau (34); Kanowit (31); Song (27); Asajaya (26); Pakan (24); Selangau (22); Lawas (18); Dalat (18); Tanjung Manis (17); Simunjan (15); Meradong (14); Tebedu (13)  and Lubok Antu (11).

Districts that reported less than 10 cases were  Marudi with eight cases; followed by Kabong (seven); Bukit Mabong (seven); Daro (five); Sebauh (five); Lundu (four); Matu (four); Tatau (three); Beluru (two); Pusa (one) and Julau (one).

The committee also said that as of today (Sept 18), there were also 152 new persons under surveillance (PUS) recorded.

The SDMC said with this,  the total number of PUS undergoing quarantine at the respective quarantine hotels and quarantine centres in the state was 4,037. Meanwhile,   150,710 PUS statewide had been discharged.
