KUCHING: Locals here were treated to free Sarawak laksa in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration at Serapi Corner, Mile 7 today.

Mohd Fardzren speaking to reporters at the event.

Serapi Group director Mohd Fardzren Mohd Azizuddin said that the restaurant had prepared a total of 250 bowls of laksa and distributed free to its loyal customers and visitors from 8am onwards.

“In line with the Sarawak Day celebration and seeing Sarawak Laksa as an iconic food in the state, we have decided to organise this programme by giving out free laksa to our customers.

“In addition, it is also one of our efforts to support the government as Kuching is the first city in Malaysia to be recognised as a Creative City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

He believed that following the important recognition, it would attract more tourists to visit the city.

Customers arrive as early as 7.30am to have their Sarawak Laksa at Serapi Corner.

“Hence, we hoped that with Serapi Corner organising our inaugural programme like this, it could also further help to promote Sarawak local and unique food,” he said.
