KWB pays RM212,000 in business zakat

KUCHING: Kuching Water Board (KWB) has contributed its first business zakat (tithe) payment totalling RM212,500 to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS).

According to the press statement, this was the first time KWB declared a zakat payment based on its performance and financial position for the year ended 2023.

“Kuching Water Board is committed to fulfilling its zakat obligation to meet the requirements of Islam, as well as to ease the burden on asnaf groups in Sarawak,” it said.

The contribution was handed over by KWB general manager, Rodziah Mohamad to TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohammad Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, which was  witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Also present were Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi and his deputy minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi as well as KWB chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Lizozman Wan Omar and others.
