KUCHING: A Ramadan bazaar will be held by La Promenade Mall on April 13 with strict adherence to high hygiene and safety standards.

Hock Seng Lee Berhad (HSL) in a statement today stated that the mall will implement strict measures to ensure a safe business environment for everyone, including patrons near the four-storey HSL Tower complex that fronts the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway

“Every trader and worker is required to undergo PCR tests and must test negative for Covid-19 before being allowed to start with preparations three days before the bazaar opens. There will be special passes and designated checks points and entries to prevent misuse of passes.

“The booths will also be placed further apart than the minimum two meters required in the government’s guidelines and each stall can only have three people in it,” HSL explained.

HSL added that the mall will also deploy its own security enforcement to ensure social distancing is kept by traders and shoppers.

HSL senior leasing manager Trish Lui said a zero-tolerance policy will be implemented and the company’s own Occupational Health and Safety Department will work closely with their security team.

“We will implement a zero-tolerance policy and encourage the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) to do surprise checks. This will further enhance everyone’s precautionary measures.

“We want traders and shoppers to do business with ease of mind, we do not want anyone to feel unsafe. We’ll be careful on other factors such as hygiene, having dry floors at our bazaars and constantly ensuring that everyone maintains cleanliness at all times,” Lui said.

Lui said that the bazaar is located on a space of one acre and no dine-ins are allowed.

“Traders will be required to wear masks, face shields, gloves and aprons. The bazaar will also be sanitised daily and will be sectioned into zones with facilities such as washing and cleaning areas.

“Traders should register early now to do Ramadan business at La Promenade Mall. The busy Kuching-Samarahan Expressway along with our cleanliness and ease of parking should translate to good business opportunity,” Lui enthused.
