KUCHING: A labourer died in a freak accident yesterday afternoon after a block of cement fell on him at Jalan Nipah, off Jalan Abell.
Zulkipli bin Brahim, aged 53, from Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan was trying to knock off a block of cement with a relative when the cement fell on him.
His relative, aged 21, called for help and an ambulance rushed to the scene where medics confirmed him dead.
It was believed that the land owners wanted to clear the area and employed people to clear off the area. Zulkipli was among those at work. Yesterday was the first day of the job.
Zulkipli was believed to die from head injuries.His remains were sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) morgue for a post mortem. Police have classified the case as sudden death report.
