Labourers arrested for alleged meth possession

MUKAH: Two labourers were arrested for allegedly possessing a straw tube containing suspected syabu drugs in a car yesterday (Mar 4).

Acting on intelligence, a police team managed to intercept a vehicle for inspection  around 12.30 pm near the Mateding junction along Jalan Mukah-Balingian.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said a straw tube containing 0.26g of suspected methamphetamine, was discovered at the front passenger seat.

“As a result, the two local suspects, both aged 28, were arrested and subsequently detained at the Mukah police station lock-up for further investigation.

“The confiscated drugs, along with the vehicle used by the suspects, have been seized as evidence,” he said.

According to initial urine tests, the passenger tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while the driver tested negative for drugs.

Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
