LABUAN: The Labuan Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has urged the Federal Territories Ministry to increase the monthly allowance of the 27 village heads here, saying the RM500 they receive now is insufficient to cover their expenses.
Labuan Bersatu pro tem chief Datuk Suhaili Abd Rahman said the amount of allowance was among numerous issues highlighted by the village heads.
“The RM500 is far below what they need to discharge their duties for the whole month. The amount is insufficient to cover car fuel for a month,” he told a press conference here today.
Saying Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) victory in the last election was due to people’s dissatisfaction with the Barisan Nasional, he hoped PH would not repeat BN’s mistake and would take better care of the people’s welfare.
“Labuan Bersatu will continue to provide checks and balances to the government in the people’s interests,” he said. – Bernama
