MIRI: Piasau assemblyman cum Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting has slammed Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng for his “lack of common sense”.
Lim recently said that Sarawak would go bankrupt if the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government continued to rule it.
“He (Lim Guan Eng) frequently issues insensitive statements or comments on Sarawak.
“His actions reflect that he is a hypocrite and he tries to destroy the unity that we are enjoying in Sarawak,” said Ting.
The SUPP secretary-general warned Lim not to threaten the strong unity of Sarawakians by making offensive comments to destroy the people’s trust in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leadership.
“The Sarawak government under GPS has been managing its finances and reserves very well and wisely and the federal government should not deny our right for allocations,” he said.
“Therefore, the Sarawak government has to find new ways to ensure the development of the state.
“This is because the federal government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) can find various unreasonable grounds for not fulfilling its promises during the election.
“I would like to remind Lim that the promise of the PH government in the manifesto to return 20 per cent of the oil tax to the people of Sarawak has not yet been fulfilled,” he said.
“The narrow minded view of Lim on the use of the state government reserves should be a reminder to the people of Sarawak that PH representatives from Sarawak, especially those in the federal cabinet are those who do not dare to do anything when Sarawak’s interest is affected.”
Ting advised the people of Sarawak to fight shoulder-to-shoulder to defend the state’s right enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He believed that all GPS component parties (PBB,SUPP, PRS and PDP) would strongly come together to defend the state.
Ting also hoped that Sarawakians would have better understanding of MA63 in order to move forward for a better future.
