MIRI: LAKU Management Sdn Bhd held a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction work at its new head office here and official handing over of Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Bukit Selatan Reservoir by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today.

It is designed with a clean and simple facade which will be illuminated at night and will be one of the city’s landmarks.

The head office will house about 200 employees, including the board of directors and the management team.

Meanwhile, the construction of Bukit Selatan Reservoir began on July 7, 2018 and was completed in July 2021.

This reservoir will improve water supply and serve the increasing population of Miri City, Jalan Luak Bay and Jalan Tanjong Lobang areas.

It increases the storage capacity of potable water in Miri City from the current 42 million litres to 69 million litres.

This means the water reserve for Miri City will be increased from 6.6 hours to 10.7 hours in case of unfortunate incident of water production stoppage.
