APPROXIMATELY 1,091,547 hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land have been measured while 842,465 hectares have been gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the State Land Code as of April this year.

Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the state government had always recognised and protected the people’s rights to their land.

“Based on application and willingness of land claimants, the measurement also focused on individual lots under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code gazetted under Section 6 of the code.

“As of April, a total of 68,723 individual lots have been successfully measured involving an area of 84,288 hectares for which the land title deeds will be issued under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code,” he said.

He said this in his ministerial winding-up speech in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

On the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Expansion Scheme (SPK), he said a total of 62 projects were approved, which will offer 6,190 residential lots involving an estimated implementation cost of RM985 million.

Of the 62 projects, 12 projects had completed and the remaining 50 will continue until the end of the 12th Malaysia Plan 2021-2025 (12MP).

He said currently, the SPS and SPK projects used the improved infrastructure specifications such as paved roads, concrete ditches, walled lots, and water and electricity supply reticulation systems.

“The Sarawak government has also set a land premium payment not exceeding RM2,500 for each residential lot in SPS and SPK although the cost of preparing each lot is estimated around RM120,000 to RM150,000,” he added.
