SIBU: A landslide occurred on Jalan Pakoh, in Stapang near here today (Jan 8).
It was due to continuous rainfall in the region for the past few days.
The State Fire Department operations centre said they received a distress call at 11.45am and despatched firemen from Selangau fire station to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team reported that the landslide happened on the hillside and temporarily blocked the road.
Firefighters were assisted by farm workers and bulldozers to do cleaning work in the area so that the road could be passed safely.
No casualties were reported and the team returned to their station after the situation was deemed safe for road users to pass.
It is understood that Jalan Pakoh serves no less than 10 longhouses with a population of about 1,000 people.
