Heavy downpour and soil erosion triggered a landslide at Takan Bridge.

SONG: Heavy downpour and soil erosion triggered a landslide, blocking the road at Takan Bridge here  this morning.

A spokesman for the Civil Defence Force (APM) said a six-man team was dispatched to the scene, about 7km away, after receiving a distress call at 6.58 am.

Upon arrival, the APM members noticed the obstruction caused by the landslide, significantly affecting the accessibility of locals to Song town, and  they proceeded to clear the road for motorcycles and cars using hoes and a scoop, while awaiting the arrival of a bulldozer to further remove the debris.

The residents have been advised to exercise caution as there is still potential for land movement.

APM personnel completed their operation at 9.20 am.
