PADAWAN: Continuous heavy rain overnight here triggered a landslide in Jalan Kampung Kakas-Kiding on Wednesday morning.

In a statement yesterday, State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) secretariat chief Ismail Mahedin said mitigation works would be carried out in the affected area as soon as possible.

“The state Public Works Department (JKR) has instructed Cahaya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) to carry out the mitigation work.

“A roadblock warning sign has been installed at the affected area to warn motorists,” the statement said.

The Padawan sub-District Office received a notice about the landslide through the WhatsApp group Kuching Disaster Task Force posted by Kampung Kakas village chief, Chan Nguwun.
