MIRI: A landslide has occurred in front of a 31-door longhouse at Sungai Engkiririn Suai, Subis on Wednesday (Oct 19).
However, no injuries or casualties were reported among the residents at Rumah Fridie Soel.
Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Lt (PA) Mirwan Shah Masri said they were informed by the Subis District Office on the incident before noon and despatched a four-man team to the scene.
Upon arriving, the team confirmed that the incident occurred around 11am about 15 feet from the longhouse, which is inhabited by 218 residents.
The team was also informed by the residents that the landslide could happen again if it rains heavily.
No evacuation works were carried out as they only monitored the situation and installed safety fences to prevent the residents from going near the scene.
The longhouse folk are advised to conduct a periodic monitoring of the situation and report to Miri APM control centre if it happens again.
