BAU: Three heads of households (KIR) who were affected by landslides in the Tasik Biru constituency have received a one-off financial assistance of RM1,000 each.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on Sunday (Jan 23), the assistance provided under the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) was channelled through the Bau District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC).

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep had on Saturday (Jan 22) presented assistance to two KIRs namely, Mijed Junus and Gichun Muto in Kampung Senibung after their houses were damaged due to a landslide on Jan 13.

Henry said Mijed’s house had suffered severe damage and that he had applied to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for follow-up action to rebuild the house as it was no longer safe to be occupied.

Meanwhile, Bau District Officer and Bau DDMC chairman Anielia Siam presented the same assistance to another landslide victim, Nyobi Gandek in Kampung Sibuluh whose house also suffered damage due to a landslide which occurred on Jan 14.
