KUCHING: The reasons for Larry Sng to quit his post as the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chief could be due to lack of leadership and diminishing people support, said Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
He said for Larry to say that handing over to the Dayak to lend the party’s more credibility was far too remote a reason to digest.
“He fabricates and camouflages his reasons, the tricks they are well known for, politically.
“If knowing that PKR’s credibility is better in the hands of the Dayak, be that in the civil service, economy or politics … why now? Why not accept it prior?,” he said in response to Larry’s recent decision to quit his post as PKR chief.
Snowdan said it looks like PKR is a sinking ship and is probably fighting a losing battle in Sarawak.
“People, especially Dayak have no trust in this party or share any hopes anymore. Their leaders jumped ship for reasons best known only to themselves. Being unprincipled, they can no longer champion the struggles of the people,” he said.
Snowdan, who is also the Balai Ringin assemblyman said championing the native customary rights (NCR) matter used to be their trademark all this while. However, it has already been abandoned and is now an accomplice.
“Now they have come to realise that our amended land code has provided good remedies for their lost cause,” he said.
He said the people of Sarawak are now more aware of PKR’s reformation struggle which is for one man only and not for the people. On the other hand, the reality is that Sarawak and its people are being well cared for by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.
“Being voted in a rural Dayak predominant parliamentary based in the Julau constituency, it will be a good bait for another opposition party to lure him. Nevertheless, we can leave that to destiny.
“I also urge the people to abandon PKR the same way they have left you. Their intrigues had been too much in power tussles, neglecting the real tangible development which the people longed for,” he said.
He said the people and development centric GPS is a much better choice for the people.
