IPOH: Royal Artist (Seniman Diraja) Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid, better known as Lat, will leave for Guangzhou, China tomorrow (Dec 21) to attend the 3rd Cai Zhizhong Comic Price Award ceremony.
Lat said he received the invitation on Dec 15 from the organiser, Cai Zhizhong Comic Prize Committee under the auspices of China’s famous cartoonist Cai Zhizhong.
The 72-year-old said he would be accompanied by his son at the ceremony scheduled to take place this Friday (Dec 22).
“I will bring my works and books, they said they want to exchange (works), so they also want to know about our developments.
“It’s my first time in Guangzhou, I have been to Beijing and Shanghai for functions and events. To me, this is all good as they give us recognition,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
Lat said he would also share his experience after attending the ceremony.
On July 8, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah inaugurated the Lat House Gallery and also proclaimed Lat as a Royal Artist.
Sultan Nazrin said the honour was in recognition of his significant role and contributions to the country through his works. – BERNAMA
