Latest cluster involves Long Urun, Belaga longhouse

KUCHING: A new cluster was reported in Sarawak on Friday (Aug 20).

This latest community cluster involved residents from a longhouse in Long Urun, Belaga.

Of the 218 people who were tested, 79, including the index case, tested positive for Covid-19 while 73 tested negative.

Sixty-six of the residents are still waiting for test results. The cluster also recorded 36 new cases on Friday.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at Kapit Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Kapit District.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) also reported the end of a cluster in Mukah, namely the Kilometer 85 Cluster.

No new cases were reported involving this cluster in the last 28 days.

Altogether, there are 118 active clusters in Sarawak, with 22 recording 407 new cases while the other 96 recorded no new cases.

On another note, SDMC also reported that the zone status for Song District had turned red from orange after reporting 41 cases in the past 14 days while Kanowit District turned from red to orange after recording 33 cases in the past fortnight.

To date, Sarawak has 24 red zone, three orange zone, eight yellow zone and five green zone districts.
