MIRI: Nearly 200 families and friends attended the funeral service of the late George Tang, a lay preacher of Hwai En Methodist Church, at the church here yesterday morning.

Tang’s four children could not hold back their tears when delivering their eulogy speeches about their father.

Delivering the funeral sermon was Reverend Eric Hii, a close friend of Tang for the past five years.

“Tang was very committed to our activities over the years,” said Hii when met after the funeral service.

Tang, 60, was reported missing by his family on June 29 this year.

He was last seen at the Piasau Industrial Area around 3pm that day.

The lower half of his body was found floating in the Suai River on July 2.  A DNA test was carried out to confirm his identity. The DNA test result came out on August 2.

Tang was buried at Riam Christian cemetery.
