SIBU: Under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the state is moving towards what the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) is striving for.

Stating this, SUPP Central Education Bureau chairman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing pointed out that Sarawak has not been affected by extreme politics and its leadership is enlightened and takes care of all the people, which should be cherished.

“In this connection, I urge party members and comrades to stand firm, unite together, go among the masses, and convey everything the party has done to the people,” he said at the SUPP Nangka Branch’s ninth anniversary celebration dinner held here on Thursday.

Ding, who is also Meradong assemblyman, said after the victory in the last state election, he hoped that the five branches of the SUPP here would continue to work hard and reach out to the masses.

He suggested that the five branches could go into rural areas and visit people in longhouses and villages.

Based on his own experience, Ding said even after losing the 2013 parliamentary election, he continued to visit longhouses and rural areas to communicate with the people.

Finally, in the 2016 state election, he enthused that his efforts were recognised by the people.

Saying that the efforts of the local five branches would definitely win the recognition of the people, he also suggested that they could jointly organise motivation camps to instill in young party members the history of the elders’ struggles and understand the efforts of their predecessors, so that they could face various challenges.

He also praised the SUPP Nangka branch as the most active branch, which connects the feelings of party members and comrades.

“Sixty-four years after the founding of the party, we have not forgotten the original intention and purpose of founding the party, establishing a fair and reasonable society, and uniting with all ethnic groups under the democratic system,” Ding added.
